Why Upstate Christian Counseling

We guide clients in experiencing real peace, grace, and hope.

Many people have misconceptions about what Christianity teaches. Biblically, grace/salvation/forgiveness is not something we earn through perfection (Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5; Romans 3:28). It is God's undeserved love and favor, freely given through Christ, by placing your faith in Him (Ephesians 1:7; Romans 3:23–24; Romans 5:1). This very truth helps set many Christians free from themselves… from what they are not capable of on their own (John 8:31–32; Galatians 2:16; 2 Corinthians 3:5).

Our hope is not found in a life free from pain, setbacks, mistakes, but in the unchanging character and promises of God, who remains faithful in every season (Romans 5:3–5; Romans 8:18; Hebrews 10:23; Lamentations 3:22–23).

We also believe that true peace is more than the absence of hardship (John 16:33; Philippians 4:6–7). It is the steady confidence that God is present, even in the midst of uncertainty, grief, and suffering (Isaiah 41:10; Romans 8:38–39). While happiness often comes and goes with our circumstances, Biblical joy and peace can remain (John 15:11; Philippians 4:7).

Our desire is to help clients know these truths while equipping them with evidence-based therapeutic tools that complements, not replaces, your relationship with Christ.
